Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
Sister Val – Female
Val has special experience in women’s health and works closely with the doctors to provide advice on contraception, sexual health and the menopause. Sister Hardy is trained to perform routine cervical smears and provide advice on breast self examination.
She also provides detailed travel health advice and is trained to administer all travel vaccines required by the patient.
Lisa – Female Practice Nurse
Lisa is trained to perform routine cervical smears and give advice where necessary
Lisa also provides travel health advice and is trained to administer all travel vaccines required by the patient. Lisa can also administer childhood immunisations along with other aspects and requirements of the patient
Kay – Female
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as, blood pressure measurement, new patient checks, ECGs. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
