Changes to local NHS policy on prescribing Hay Fever medication
NHS East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – the local NHS organisation which plans and pays for healthcare in this area, has made a decision that hay fever medication will no longer be routinely prescribed.
This means that hay fever medication that patients can buy over the counter from a pharmacy will no longer be prescribed, on the NHS, for patients in Hertfordshire.
This includes medications such as Cetirizine, Loratidine, Desloratadine, Beclometasone and Fluticasone Nasal Sprays and Sodium Cromoglycate eye drops.
Most cases of hay fever can be treated using medication from a pharmacy or supermarket.
